Annie: What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Mike: I mostly listen to traditional Chinese music.

Annie: When I think of traditional Chinese music, various types of musical instruments immediately come to mind, such as erhu, pipa, guzheng, xiao and suona.

Mike: For sure! The unusual musical instruments played in traditional Chinese music contribute to this unique music form. They are symbols of Chinese culture.

Annie: So, what do you like about traditional Chinese music?

Mike: Well, I enjoy the tranquility it brings. Many works of traditional Chinese music are simple and harmonious. They make me feel peaceful.

Annie: What’s your favourite music piece?

Mike: I like Lofty Mountains and Flowing Water best. The music itself is abstract, but while listening to the music, I feel I can see the mountains and hear the sound of water.

Annie: Sounds amazing. I’m into pop music. But after talking to you, I think maybe I should try some Chinese classical music in the future.

Mike: You should!
